    FAQ

How long can I stay on a tourist visa?
The visa is normally granted for a 90-day stay, extendable once in Uruguay before the Dirección Nacional de Migración for another 90 days. It is generally issued with multiple entries during its validity.

Where and when do I apply?
Apply through the Uruguayan consulate with jurisdiction over your place of residence, well in advance — consulates recommend 40–50 days before travel and the central procedure notes DNM authorization alone usually takes at least 20 business days.

Can I hold the visa indefinitely before traveling?
No. Once stamped, you generally have a limited window (commonly 60–180 days depending on the issuing office) to enter Uruguay, or the visa lapses.
